කියුබානු විප්ලවයේ නායක, සමාජවාදී  කියුබාවේ නිර්මාතෘ සහ අපේ යුගයේ ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨතම නායකයෙකු වූ ෆිදෙල් කැස්ත්‍රෝ මහතාගේ අභාවය ගැන අපි මහත්සේ කණගාටු වෙමු. මේ සම්බන්ධයෙන් අපගේ සංවේගය ඔහුගේ සොහොයුරා මෙන්ම දේශපාලන අනුප්‍රාප්තිකයාද වන ඔබටත්, කියුබානු ජනතාවටත් ප්‍රකාශකර සිටීමට කැමැත්තෙමි. 

ෆිදෙල් කැස්ත්‍රෝ මහතාගේ  අභාවය යුගයක අවසානය සනිටුහන් කරයි. ඔහු නායකත්වය දුන් කියුබානු විප්ලවය ලොව පුරා තරුණයන්ගේ ආකාර්ශණය දිනාගත් දේශපාලන සංසිද්ධියක් විය. ෆිදෙල් කැස්ත්‍රෝ මහතා ලොවට කියාදුන් වැදගත්ම දේශපාලන පාඩමක් වූයේ අධිපතිවාදී මහා බලවතුන් හමුවේ වුවත්, කුඩා රටක් තම සෛරීත්වයත්, ස්වාධීනත්වයත් රැකගෙන ඉදිරියට යන්නේ කෙසේද යන්නයි. ඔබ පිළිබඳ මතකය අපට ඉදිරියටත් ආදර්ශයක් වෙනු ඇත.

Former President MahindaRajapaksa who is currently on a visit to China has sent the President of Cuba the following message of condolence on the death of the leader of the Cuban revolution, 
Fidel Castro.

Excellency,

It is with great sadness that we heard of the passing away of the leader of the Cuban revolution, the founder of socialist Cuba and one of the greatest leaders of our time, Fidel Castro. We wish to offer our heartfelt condolences to you as his brother and successor, and to the people of Cuba. The passing of Fidel Castro marks the end of an era. 

The Cuban revolution that he led, inspired generations of youthful idealists. One of the most important political lessons he taught the world was how small states can hold their own and maintain their sovereignty and independence even in the face of domineering powers. The memory of Comrade Fidel Castro will continue to inspire us all.
